Vermillion RCMP execute search warrant and lay several charges

As a result of information received in July 2021, Vermilion RCMP were conducting an investigation in relation to a report of a careless use of firearm. The subsequent investigation and evidence gathered supported a search warrant for a residence in the Vermilion River County area.
Vermilion RCMP Detachment with the assistance of Alberta RCMP’s Emergency Response Team and Kitscoty RCMP Detachment, executed this search warrant at approximately 6:00 p.m. on Aug. 1, 2021, at a property near Township Road 490 and Range Road 50.
Three adults were arrested without incident. As a result of this investigation, police seized suspected methamphetamine, a prohibited firearm and stolen property was recovered.
Jesse Aram Mark Aliferis (35) of Vermilion, Alta is facing the following charges:
· Identity theft
· Careless use of firearm
· Possession of prohibited firearm
· Possession of firearm when unauthorized x2
· Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 x 3
· Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 x 8
· Possession of controlled drugs and substances x 3
· Possession of illicit cannabis
· And various other charges related to credit cards
Jesse Aliferis has been remanded in custody until Aug. 10 and has been transferred to the Edmonton Remand Centre. He is scheduled to appear in the Vermillion Provincial Court on Aug. 10, 2021.
Murray Mackenzie Young (23), of Vermilion, Alta., was charged with failing to comply with a release order. He was held for a bail hearing and subsequently released. Murray Young is scheduled to appear in Vermilion Provincial Court on Aug. 16, 2021.
An adult female was arrested on scene and determined to not be involved. She was released without charges.
