Police in Fort McMurray investigating weekend armed robberies at liquor stores

Wood Buffalo RCMP say the robberies were at Ace Liquor stores in Thickwood and Wood Buffalo. No injuries were reported.

Police are investigating two armed robberies at liquor stores in Thickwood and Wood Buffalo during the weekend. In both incidents, no injuries were reported.

The first incident was on May 4 at 6:50 p.m. at the Ace Liquor on Signal Road. Wood Buffalo RCMP say an unknown person entered the store with an edged weapon and a grey t-shirt wrapped around his face. The man demanded money from the employee, who complied. The suspect than ran away with the cash.

Police believe this man stole liquor bottles from the same location on May 3 at 9:40 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. The suspect is described as:

  • Male
  • Tall
  • Slim build
  • Wearing black baseball cap with a white logo
  • Black sweater
  • Blue jeans
  • Black sneakers
  • Carrying a grey backpack

Police say another armed robbery took place at the Ace Liquor on Real Martin Drive in Wood Buffalo. Two people entered the store with edged weapons, demanded cash, then ran away with cash and money.

The first suspect is described as:

  • Male
  • Tall
  • Slim build
  • Wearing black pants
  • Black sweater with hood up
  • Black toque
  • Black face covering
  • One black glove and one red glove
  • Carrying a grey duffle bag with wheels on it

The second suspect is described as:

  • Male
  • Tall
  • Slim build
  • Wearing a plaid patterned, brown / burgundy / white and navy blue jacket
  • Blue jeans
  • Sunglasses and full face covering
  • Grey ball cap with small white logo “Volcom” logo
  • Black shoes
  • Carrying a black backpack
